Peanut Butter
Do you have your phone set to remind you of things that happened “on this day” in year xyz? A reminder of this series of photo popped up on my phone recently. On this day in 2018, Millie went to town on an almost-empty jar of peanut butter and made me laugh hysterically.
Our household goes through a LOT of peanut butter; maybe an obscene amount. I buy the super double packs of peanut butter from Costco almost every time I’m there. Justin and Nate love their peanut butter wraps, Justin and Flo love their peanut butter spoons, and Millie was right in there with the peanut butter obsession. Which I find slightly ironic because my mom is wildly allergic to peanuts… thank goodness that didn’t get passed down!
When we got Flo as a puppy, we started the habit of leaving some peanut butter along the walls of the jar and giving it to Flo as a treat. It’s amazing how fast she can clean out what is left of the peanut butter. And there is a perfect line inside the jar of how far her tongue can reach, leaving about an inch and a half untouched at the bottom. If we don’t catch it in time, Flo has been known to chew down the lip of the jar to get to what’s left!
On one such day in 2018, Millie and I sat on a blanket in the shade as we tended to do. I gave Flo the mostly empty jar of peanut butter and let her go to town; a treat for Flo and entertainment for us. But this time, Millie wanted in on the action! Millie and Flo shared that jar of peanut butter and cleaned it out completely!

Needless to say… this definitely happened more than once!
Sometimes, it’s the small pleasures in life that can really turn a day around. And maybe it shouldn’t surprise me, but sometimes it’s the small, seemingly unimportant memories that pop up and breathe new life into my heart.

The sweetest faces!! Love our little narwhal!😍

I have some of the best “on this day” reminders with Miss Millie 🙂 Tuesday babysitting days were my absolute favorite.
